So, you’ve just made the most epic video ever. You’ve found the perfect track, edited it in, hit publish. Then the notification arrives *”copyright claim”* and suddenly your monetisation is on hold while you desperately scramble to find an email address that doesn’t exist.

But the bit that makes this genuinely different from the other lot: Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 licensing with real legal accountability behind it. Every track is 100% human-composed, which means there’s a real person — I see ya lookin’ — who can stand behind it when it matters. Pro Licences are available if you’d rather skip the attribution, and if a copyright claim ever does land in your inbox, the claim resolution page is your first stop. Yes, yes, yes, and no. ONLY JOKING, IT’S ALSO YES! CC BY 4.0 has no platform restrictions whatsoever. YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, podcasts, films, games, radio, apps, the interpretive dance piece you’ve been workshopping — all fine.
Why not indeed, fill your boots. But YouTube Audio Library is platform-locked — use it outside YouTube and you’re on your own legally. There’s also no support if claims arise, which they occasionally do. Here you get both portability and a real human to call on. Seems like a reasonable upgrade for the same price of *checks notes* free.
AI music has genuinely uncertain legal standing — copyright ownership in AI-generated works is still being argued in courts worldwide, which means when something goes wrong, it’s not always clear who’s accountable.
